Visio Divina

A quiet way of seeing

A way of praying with images, with time to look gently and be still with God.

Each prayer is gently guided. Once you begin, the images and words come and go on their own. At times the screen will be still or empty; that’s part of the prayer. There’s nothing to tap again until you’re invited to finish.

About Visio Divina

Visio Divina is a contemplative practice of prayer that invites us to look slowly and deeply, allowing an image to become a place of encounter with God. Receive the image as a gift. There is nothing to work out and nowhere to hurry to.

The prayer moves gently through four movements:

Gazing
Look gently at the image. Notice where your eyes come to rest.
Reflecting
Notice what stays with you, even when the image is no longer there.
Responding
If something has stirred in you, you can share it with God, with or without words.
Resting
Be still with God. There is nothing more you need to do.
